English Language Arts Gr. 3 curriculum
We will be focusing on 'Word Work' consistently in the morning to improve our ability to recognize and interpret Dolch 'Sight Words.' These words occur the most frequently in the English language and we will increase our fluency to read and write with practice and review. Grammar in the English language is a challenge and there are many exceptions to 'the rule'. Again through practice, communication and review each students will become more aware of why English is the language most commonly used in the world. Reading words on a page or screen can tweak our imagination and inspire us to act-out, reference and write. Read-to-self, others, listening to reading and choosing 'good fit' books are all apart of our reading experience this year. Writing is a slow and steady process but with practice, effort and time propels individuals to success in the future. As we take a look into Phonemic awareness, journal writing, free-writing, paragraphs, and sentence structure, students will further grasp how to put random ideas into complete sentences.
